Yap Ready is a camera and teleprompter app that uses AI to write short video scripts from what you say. This page explains what the app does with your information, in plain words. The short version: your videos stay on your phone. Some text leaves your phone so the AI can write your scripts, and only after you say yes to that inside the app.
The first time you open Yap Ready, it asks if you want AI scripts. Nothing is sent anywhere until you tap Allow. You can turn AI scripts off any time in Settings inside the app. With AI off, you can still film, read your old scripts, and use your videos. Nothing leaves the phone.
Your videos and your voice recordings never leave your phone. Finished videos save to your own Photos app. Your scripts, captions, profile, and everything Yap Ready learns about you are stored on your phone only. We have no servers that store your content.
When you use an AI feature, text goes out so the script can be written. That can include: the words you said in a ramble, turned into text on your phone; facts Yap Ready has learned about you from past rambles; answers you gave in the interview; stats screenshots you choose to upload; and transcripts you choose to import. It goes to our server, which passes it to Anthropic, the company that runs the Claude AI. Claude writes your script and sends it back. That is the whole trip.
Two companies help run Yap Ready. Cloudflare runs our server. It passes your text along and keeps a small usage counter (see the next section). Anthropic runs the AI that writes your scripts. We do not store your words. Anthropic may hold requests for a short time under its own privacy policy, then deletes them. You can read Anthropic's policy at anthropic.com/privacy.
Each request carries an ID tied to your device, not to your name or email. We use it for two things: counting how many scripts each device makes per day, so nobody can overload the service, and counting how many of the 4 free yaps a device has used. The daily counter is deleted after about two days. The free yap count is kept so the 4 free yaps can't be reset. The ID resets if you delete the app. We cannot connect it to who you are.
Turning your talking into text happens on your phone using Apple's speech recognition, under Apple's terms. On some older phones Apple may process speech on its servers. Yap Ready itself never sends your audio anywhere.
If you choose to upload screenshots of your video stats, they are read once to learn what performs for you, and the lessons are saved on your phone. We do not keep the screenshots.
If you import a recording or paste a transcript, that text is sent for processing the same way a ramble is, only when you ask for it. It is not stored by us and is never saved as facts about you.
No accounts. No ads. No tracking you across other apps or websites. No selling or sharing your information with data brokers. No analytics companies. Payment happens through Apple, and we never see your payment details. When you subscribe, the app sends Apple's proof of your subscription to our server so it can unlock AI scripts. That proof has no name, email, or card details in it.
Settings has a button that deletes your scripts, your profile, and everything Yap Ready learned about you, right on the phone. Deleting the app removes everything else. Your videos are yours, in your Photos app, and stay there.
Yap Ready is not made for children. It is intended for people 18 and older.
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. Big changes will also be noted inside the app.
